Dirjare
Dirjare are a species located near the deserts of Zerottakída, this species are often spotted scavenging the outskirts of the deserts, commonly in the spike-fields nearby. Dirjare tend to scavenge rotting fruit that has fallen into these fields by uninterested avians, in-fact these rotting fruits make up over half of their herbivorous diet. They enjoy savoring the taste of these rotting fruits, they seem to prefer them over a fresh fruit oddly enough. Dirjare average a height of around 5 - 6 feet, and often weigh no more than 160 lbs, the patterns and coloring they sport are rather similar to certain fruits on the planet. A distinct feature of the Dirjare is the large fin on their back, a fin that no longer serves a purpose. Before the formation of this desert there once was a large body of water, which a more aquatic Dirjare once thrived in, however over the many years the body of water evaporated, leaving behind a dry desert. To adapt to these new changes, the Dirjare evolved, becoming more amphibious as the body of water evaporated, however they never dropped their dorsal fin nor scales. Dirjare have retained the ability to swim, but aren’t quite as good at it as they once were. In recent years however, the Dirjare have been trained and utilized by one of the more intelligent species of Zerottakída known as the Fethitz. Fethitz themselves are an odd species, dawning many features reminiscent of an avian (such as feathers, talons, and a beak) however they also have features similar to that of a mammal. Fethitz have trained Dirjare to hunt and bring back both food and other resources, the Fethitz will pack Dirjare up into their aircrafts and drop them off in desired locations to do so. -SL
