Waveion

A quaint species of sea-bird found in the Northern oceans of Rudicus. They usually roost on sharp and steep cliffs to keep their nests and offspring safe from both sea and land predators,But some isolated groups of Waveion have adapted to a complete aquatic lifestyle. To keep warm when hunting in the cold waters they have a thick and shaggy layer of feathers,Which underneath of are a layer of soft feathers.Their diet consists of Paddlefin-Cleaners,Rose-Hatchet Fish and a myriad of Mollusks and Cephalopods,And they hunt these animals using their impressive speed, sharp teeth and their webbed talons or if there is a large school of fish near the cliff-faces that make their home they'll dive off and attempt to fit as many fish into their rather large mouths as possible. When these birds reach the age of 15 they begin to lose the ability to fly as their feathers become to heavy to archive flight,But those who are younger then 15 can somewhat easily fly for short distances or at the very least glide around the cliffs.Over many, many, many years Waveions will slowly create a designated climbing path to their roosts,Using their beaks and talons to climb up and wear out a path for somewhat easy access. The males of the species both have a fin display on their heads and set of three bioluminescent marks,Which they'll flash at females in a slightly erratic movement pattern,And after this display they'll offer the females a gift of a spat-up bile composed of the most rare prey animals they can find,And their breeding season is in the Fall. They can hold their breath for around 30-40 minutes at most and this allows them to catch around 95-100 pounds of food per-day,And they store excess food in a secondary crop specifically used to store food,While their primary crop renders their food into a easy to digest mush,And they'll spit up anything like bones, shells, teeth and other things in a glob of bile. The Waveion can live up to 35 years old at most.
